Ah, the joys of summer. Vacations and travel, rest and relaxation. Most of us look forward to Summer as a time to reconnect with the outdoors–swimming, boating, camping, golf, picnics. Life seems, for the most part, to slow down from our normal routines.
There is, of course, another side to Summer–the heat, thunderstorms and mosquitos. We have to see all of Summer, the good things and the not so good things as part of a whole. Summer is God’s gift to us. Just as in life itself there are good things and unpleasant things, we take them all together as a whole, and enjoy what the Summer brings.
It is important for us to remember to thank God for the gift of Summer and for all the other gifts God sends our way. There is the temptation to forget God while we enjoy His gifts because we are so busy pursuing our own good times. We must always put things into perspective. God is not absent from our lives nor is God distant from us. We, then, need to keep God’s presence in our consciousness, in the forefront of all that we do and enjoy.
May this summertime be a time of refreshment and relaxation. May we enjoy summer and the gift of God that it is to us.
God Bless you all, enjoy!
