Advent is the season of quiet waiting for the coming of the Lord. It is a time of prayer and reflection, that bears fruit in our reaching out to others. We seek reconciliation with those from whom we are alienated, respond to serve the needs of others as the Lord has been the servant of all and carry the message of hope and joy that the Lord comes to rule the earth with justice and peace.
The kingdom of God, of which we are all citizens, is already in our midst. We are challenged during this Advent Season to build up the kingdom by our seeking to be holy as our God is Holy. It is the glory of God’s holiness that fills the earth and all that is in it, transforms the world and us and brings true peace and justice to all people.
During Advent, we prepare for this “second coming” of the Lord, by reflecting on the ways by which we may ready a fit and worthy dwelling place for the Lord in our hearts, in our homes, in our communities and in our world. When he comes, he will find the foundations of the kingdom ready to be completed through His power and our efforts.
With the Church let us pray daily, Maranatha, Come Lord Jesus.
